Online Lessons
Our Online Lessons occur once each week over Zoom or FarPlay at a time convenient for the student and teacher. Students electing this format will benefit from the use of a laptop computer, headphones/earbuds, a quiet indoor space, and good internet connectivity [ a minimum of 1.5 megabytes per second is recommended].
Students are supported on the path of mastering the music they love while honing helpful skills recommended by their instructor. Students will develop ease with:
Tuning
Learning & playing chords
Playing simple melodies by ear
Learning to identify written music
Working with other musicians
Setting and attaining achievable musical goals
Assessing their own practice habits (helpful and otherwise) to promote sustained learning
Live performance
Improvisation, song writing, and composition
Instrument maintenance
All students are accepted, from absolute beginner to those with prior experience. helpful and nourishing musical coaching from our excellent staff. Students of the Sacramento Guitar School have developed their own musical styles; many have written and recorded songs, long-form compositions, performed in local groups, or have continued their study of music at the university level.
Tuition Fees for Partial Academic Year Enrollment
At SGS, we are happy to offer a month to month lesson tuition option. At the start of each month, students will be provided a breakdown of the lesson schedule and associated lesson fees. Your monthly tuition fee is factored based on the number of lessons for each month.
For students interested in month to month tuition, we offer the following rates:
60-minute lesson rate = $85/lesson
45-minute lesson rate = $65/lesson
30-minute lesson rate = $44/lesson
*Students enrolling in this option are required to pay for each month in advance; payment is due at the first lesson of the month. Finally, a 30-day notice is required for cancellation of lessons.
**Makeup lessons are offered and provided on a day set by the instructor. These set-day makeups are offered one time each month, and students are limited to 2 make-up lessons per calendar year.
Tuition Fees for Full Academic Year Enrollment
Students interested in committing to a full academic year of lessons will see tremendous growth over the 10 month period spanning August through May. Those enrolled in this program will have opportunities to participate in group classes, performances, guest-led workshops, and access to online lesson content. Also, because this option is a much longer commitment, we provide a reduced lesson rate. For those electing to enroll for the full year, they will save 10% off the price of each lesson compared with those enrolling in month to month lessons.
The Sacramento Guitar School calendar is based on a 37-week academic year. 37 lessons are divided by 10 months (August through May) and tuition is charged in monthly installments to cover the year. Our calendar takes into account major holidays & breaks typically observed by schools and colleges.

Makeup lessons always present a challenge for students and teachers alike. We think of your enrollment at Sacramento Guitar School like that at a college or university. Students do not cease progress because of a single missed class. After all, there is always something to work on in our pursuit of musical greatness! However, our instructors are reasonable and giving adults. As such, they understand that life happens and that your continued support in lessons is worth the extra time commitment on our end. We have recently shifted to a model that offers 2 makeup lessons per year for unforeseeable circumstances. At the start of each term, students will be notified which days their instructor has set aside for makeup lessons.
